'Paolo Costoli' Municipal Pool is a sports facility in Florence located in the district of Campo di Marte. The facility was built in 1967, and it was named after the Florentine swimmer and water polo player Paolo Costoli, who lost his life a year earlier in a tragic plane crash in Germany. The facility, owned by the City of Florence, is equipped with a 25 x 50-meter Olympic-size pool with a depth of 2.15 meters. During winter it is covered and is used for free swimming, competitive swimming, diving activities, and water polo. In summer, however, Costoli Municipal Pool is an open-air facility, used for recreational swimming.
